Materials Engineer

About the role

The Materials Engineer will be based in Al‑Kuwait and will support Penspen’s oil & gas projects by ensuring material quality and compliance throughout design, construction and commissioning phases. The role involves close coordination with contractors and the resident engineer to guarantee that all work meets the required specifications and QHSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and verify contractor requisitions, work packages, risk and method statements to optimise work processes.
• Witness and confirm compliance with design specifications and oversee construction activities.
• Supervise sampling and testing of soil, asphalt, concrete and other materials.
• Control laboratory testing of raw materials and finished products to ensure quality.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to client counterparts and act as liaison between client and contractor.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of materials management experience in the oil & gas industry.
• 2–5 years of experience in design and construction of on‑shore plants.
• Familiarity with industry standard codes and construction practices.
• Ability to work on‑site in Al‑Kuwait and report to the resident engineer.

Required skills

• Material testing (soil, asphalt, concrete).
• Quality control of raw and finished materials.
• Compliance with QHSE standards.
• Review of risk and method statements.
