About the role
The Mechanical Metrology Engineer serves as the resident expert in metrology, providing engineering and consultancy services to the Government of Kuwait (GOK) in partnership with the Senior Engineer. The role focuses on advancing measurement techniques, ensuring laboratory accreditation, and supporting the development of metrology facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct research on new equipment and incorporate state‑of‑the‑art techniques into future metrology acquisitions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a Metrology QA Program and maintain laboratory QA accreditation.
- Assess requirements and devise new measurement techniques for mechanical, electro‑mechanical, optical, electro‑optical, chemical, and electro‑chemical calibration methodologies.
- Analyze equipment test and performance needs, prescribe calibration approaches, and define servicing requirements to guarantee traceability.
- Direct the creation and evaluation of calibration procedures for assigned equipment categories.
- Coordinate with technical societies and international engineering facilities to stay current with emerging measurement technologies.
- Oversee laboratory facility and environmental control development, operation, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with civilian contractors and military civil engineering organizations on projects affecting metrology facilities.
- Act as consultant to GOK military and ministries on metrology facilities and environmental requirements.
- Work with the Electrical Engineer on power production and facility matters.
Required profile
- Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics or a related technical field from an accredited institution, plus twelve (12) years of experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electronic precision measurement equipment and laboratory reference standards.
- OR completion of a U.S. military precision measurement and calibration school with twelve (12) years of metrology and calibration experience.
- OR completion of a precision measurement and calibration program at an accredited school or specialized calibration firm, with twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
