Mechanical Planner – Maintenance

About the role
The Mechanical Planner – Maintenance is responsible for developing and managing maintenance plans for mechanical equipment across the plant. This role ensures that preventive, predictive, breakdown, and shutdown activities are scheduled efficiently and aligned with production priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Plan preventive, predictive, breakdown, condition‑based, shutdown and corrective maintenance schedules for mechanical systems.
- Prepare work orders, spare‑parts requirements and maintenance documentation in coordination with engineering and operations.
- Collaborate with production, utilities, electrical, purchasing, stores, safety, reliability and maintenance teams to align plans with plant priorities.
- Lead planning, scheduling and resource coordination for equipment improvement, modification and redesign projects.
- Support maintenance activities across multiple plants, standardising processes and promoting best practices.
- Authorize routine maintenance, control shift‑level documentation and guide technicians on proper reporting.
- Track work orders, reports and maintenance records to verify compliance with procedures and ISO standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance planning data in SAP, ensuring data integrity for scheduling and backlog management.
- Report planning KPIs, backlogs and performance trends to management and highlight improvement opportunities.
- Conduct quality inspections of received mechanical goods, spares and consumables.
Required profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in steel or heavy‑industry operations, including at least 4 years in mechanical maintenance planning.
Required skills
- Proficiency with SAP maintenance modules.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance planning for mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with ISO standards related to safety, quality and reliability.
- Ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and manage resources effectively.
