Planning Engineer – Materials & Inventory

About the role

The Planning Engineer will manage material planning, inventory control and master scheduling for multiple steel structure projects. You will ensure that engineering, production and shipment plans are aligned with material availability and forecast demand.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Master Planning Database by regularly collecting project information.
• Prepare and update engineering, production, and shipment plans.
• Generate timely purchase orders for job‑specific items based on the planning database.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels using current stock, historical usage and demand forecasts.
• Coordinate with the purchasing team to guarantee on‑time delivery of raw materials, accessories and job‑specific items.
• Analyse backlog and produce regular management reports.
• Report on steel raw‑material types and grades (HR plates, GI coils, PPGL, PPGI, etc.).

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in material planning, preferably in the PEB or structural‑steel sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling and material‑requirements‑planning (MRP) techniques.
• Analytical ability to forecast patterns and adapt to daily changes.
• Familiarity with quality standards for raw materials.

• ERP systems – preferably SAP.
• Microsoft Excel.
• Microsoft Access or equivalent database tools.
• Material Management modules.
• Scheduling and MRP techniques.
