QHSE Manager – Residential

About the role

The QHSE Manager will lead the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment function for on‑shore drilling rigs in Kuwait. Reporting to senior management, the role is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving BWD’s QHSE management systems while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for QHSE, aligning objectives with organisational goals.
• Lead, mentor and develop the QHSE team to achieve high performance standards.
• Develop, maintain and audit the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with industry standards.
• Plan, set and monitor QHSE goals and objectives, driving safety leadership across operations.
• Coordinate with the Operations department on all QHSE matters, ensuring incidents are reported, classified, investigated and corrective actions are closed.
• Conduct weekly incident review meetings, generate safety alerts and recognise safety champions.
• Oversee implementation of HSE programmes such as JSA, Permit‑to‑Work, Lock‑out/Tag‑out, DROPS, lifting equipment management, performance benchmarking and rig‑specific ERP.
• Prepare monthly incident reports for senior management and support QHSE aspects of tender bids.
• Plan and execute internal QHSE audits on rigs, ensuring compliance with Burgan policies and regulatory requirements.
• Define specifications for QHSE‑related products/services and manage supplier evaluation and authorisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading QHSE functions within an industrial or drilling environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, incident investigation and safety leadership.
• Ability to develop and maintain QMS and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators and internal teams.
