Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will lead the development and optimisation of maintenance strategies for a heavy‑industry environment, ensuring equipment availability and reducing lifecycle costs. You will act as the technical reference for maintenance teams and mentor engineers to embed reliability best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise RCM, FMEA and preventive maintenance programmes.
• Define criticality rankings and implement risk‑based maintenance approaches.
• Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) for major failures and validate corrective actions.
• Support CAPEX justification and lifecycle cost (LCC) analysis using reliability data.
• Analyse Weibull trends, failure statistics and ensure SAP‑PM data integrity.
• Supervise technical reliability assistants and act as a reference for maintenance teams.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reliability reports for management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or reliability engineering, with at least 3 years in a steel manufacturing or heavy‑industrial setting.
• Proven experience with RCM, condition‑based monitoring (CBM) and asset health evaluation.
• Strong background in root‑cause analysis, failure investigations and CAPEX justification.

• Root‑cause analysis techniques: fault tree, fishbone, Pareto.

• Condition monitoring techniques: vibration, thermography, oil analysis.
• Reliability and maintenance software: CMMS, EAM, SAP PM/MM.
