Research Assistant II

About the role

The Population Health Department seeks a Research Assistant II to provide technical and administrative support for field and office‑based studies. You will help collect, enter, and preliminarily analyse data that advance DDI’s mission of public‑health and diabetes‑prevention research.

Key responsibilities

• Support design and execution of population‑health and epidemiological studies.
• Conduct data collection via surveys, interviews, and clinical assessments.
• Perform literature reviews and produce summary documents.
• Enter, clean, and quality‑control data in line with study protocols.
• Organise fieldwork logistics, recruitment, and participant scheduling.
• Maintain data confidentiality and adhere to ethical research guidelines.
• Prepare routine reports, tables, and summaries for departmental review.
• Assist with research instrument preparation and documentation.
• Collaborate with Research Associates and Scientists to ensure workflow efficiency.
• Support training of new field researchers and interns.
• Manage inventory and ordering of research supplies.
• Participate in departmental meetings and team activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or a related field.
• 3–5 years of research or field‑data collection experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
• Strong attention to detail, time‑management and record‑keeping abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively under the supervision of the Head of Department or assigned Scientist.

Required skills

• Familiarity with research data‑collection tools such as REDCap, Epi Info, or ODK.
• Basic knowledge of descriptive statistics and data‑entry procedures.
• Understanding of ethical standards and human‑subject research protection.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic statistical software.
