Research Assistant – R&D Support for Hardware & Software

About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support R&D across our hardware and software product lines, focusing on precision motion, optics, and embedded systems. The role is based in Kuwait (or remote relocation) within a lean startup environment where you will wear many hats.

Key responsibilities

• Support mechanical design and validation for precision motion/actuation systems
• Assist with optical design and prototyping for imaging and lens‑based instruments
• Contribute to embedded firmware development on ARM Cortex‑M platforms
• Prepare technical documentation and regulatory/compliance materials
• Hands‑on PCB assembly, rework, and test‑bench setup
• Support CAD‑based design iteration and Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM) review

Required profile

• BSc/MSc in Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, embedded firmware, and optics
• Willingness to include a dad joke in the application to confirm reading the posting
• Comfortable in a lean, one‑person‑does‑everything startup environment
• Based in or willing to relocate to Kuwait
