Safety Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Safety Officer to support the Project Manager in planning and implementing health, safety and environmental (HSE) measures on site. The role ensures compliance with client and regulatory HSE requirements and promotes a safe working environment for all personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as technical advisor to the Project Manager in HSE planning.
• Implement company HSE policies, procedures and work practices.
• Monitor compliance with mandatory HSE laws, standards and client codes.
• Conduct site inspections, document unsafe acts and conditions, and trigger corrective actions.
• Perform periodic internal HSE audits to verify regulatory compliance.
• Review work environments, identify hazards and recommend controls to prevent occupational illness.
• Organise and lead regular safety meetings with field supervisors and ensure attendance.
• Participate in weekly progress meetings to provide safety input for current and future activities.
• Ensure daily toolbox talks are held and attendance is recorded.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, maintain records and prepare required reports.
• Monitor pollution control, environmental protection standards and work‑permit compliance.
• Carry out air monitoring for harmful or explosive substances.
• Maintain and display required safety notices, posters and literature.
• Promote safety awareness through propaganda programs and ensure availability of HSE equipment.
• Provide training on safe work practices, personal protective equipment and hazardous material handling.
• Identify emergency facilities such as fire services, water sources and first‑aid stations.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Manager.
