Senior Techno-Functional Specialist – Payments AML & Sanctions Screening

About the role

This senior position is responsible for the end‑to‑end configuration, tuning and optimisation of Siron Embargo and KYC screening systems within a regulated banking environment. The focus is on payments‑related sanctions screening, ensuring high accuracy, system stability and compliance with international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain Siron Embargo sanctions‑screening configuration in production environments.
• Design, tune and optimise fuzzy‑matching algorithms, thresholds, field weighting, name normalisation and alias handling.
• Develop payment‑type‑specific screening logic for SWIFT MT (e.g., MT103, MT202) and ISO 20022 messages (pacs.008, pacs.009).
• Create extensive test cases, reduce false positives and support real‑time screening use cases.
• Configure and optimise KYC/CIF screening, manage false positives during onboarding and periodic reviews.
• Troubleshoot daily system performance issues, support production incidents, releases and hot‑fixes.
• Collaborate with Technology, Payments and Compliance teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Manage sanctions‑list ingestion (OFAC, EU, UN, UK), prepare tuning documentation and support internal audits and regulator reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in AML, sanctions screening and payments within a regulated banking or financial institution.
• At least 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with Siron Embargo (and Siron KYC) configuration and tuning.
• Strong understanding of SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 payment message formats.
• In‑depth knowledge of international sanctions regimes (OFAC, EU, UN, UK).
• Technical orientation with proven ability to optimise system performance and reduce false positives.
