Source Development Officer – Food Ingredients

About the role

The Source Development Officer will identify, evaluate, qualify and develop new suppliers for food ingredients, ensuring a reliable, cost‑effective and compliant supply base that meets quality, food safety, regulatory and commercial requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify alternative ingredient sources, emerging suppliers and industry trends.
• Maintain a pipeline of potential suppliers, coordinate onboarding, registration and qualification processes.
• Collect and review supplier certifications, product specifications and technical documents; coordinate audits with QA and Food Safety teams.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Production to secure approved ingredients for new product launches.
• Maintain ingredient specifications, certificates and approved supplier lists; ensure required documentation is up‑to‑date.
• Monitor global ingredient markets, pricing trends and supply risks; recommend cost‑saving and diversification opportunities.
• Obtain quotations, negotiate preliminary commercial terms and prepare cost comparison analyses for management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, commerce, science or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing or supplier development within the food manufacturing industry.
• Experience with ERP procurement systems (e.g., Oracle) and Microsoft 365/Office.
• Familiarity with supplier qualification processes and food safety requirements.

Required skills

• Cost analysis and commercial evaluation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
• Ability to use AI tools relevant to sourcing and procurement.
