Stewarding Manager

About the role

The Stewarding Manager leads the back‑of‑house team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and efficiency in the kitchen and related areas. Working within a Hilton hotel, you will supervise kitchen stewards, coordinate dish‑washing operations and support the overall guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise Kitchen Stewards and maintain high service standards.
• Coordinate daily pot‑wash and dish‑wash schedules.
• Ensure back‑of‑house areas meet cleanliness standards and cleaning schedules are completed.
• Observe COSHH guidelines and enforce health‑and‑safety policies.
• Report equipment faults to the Back‑of‑House Manager, Head Chef or Maintenance Manager.
• Verify correct use of PPE and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Oversee proper operation of kitchen machinery in line with Hilton’s safety manual.
• Assist with equipment location, movement, storage and stock‑take as required.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Self‑motivated with the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying work situations.
• Previous experience in a similar stewarding role, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
• Proficiency in health‑and‑safety compliance and hygiene standards.
• Experience operating dish‑washing and kitchen machinery safely.
• Ability to manage personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
