Tapper Operator – Ferro Silicon Plant

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Tapper Operator to join our multicultural team at a ferro‑silicon plant in Kuwait. The role involves safely and efficiently performing furnace tapping activities, controlling molten metal and slag flow, and supporting continuous furnace operation while meeting safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close tap holes, monitor and control molten ferrosilicon and slag flow.
• Maintain tap‑hole condition, clean runner and tapping area, and ensure mold/metal‑bed readiness.
• Lead the tapping team to achieve required number of taps per shift and maximize metal recovery.
• Operate cranes and lifting equipment for metal handling.
• Repair tap holes when required and report any abnormal conditions to the shift in‑charge.
• Control metal loss, rearrange slag, and monitor metal‑bed fines.
• Maintain accurate operational records and adhere to safety, SOPs, permit‑to‑work and lockout/tagout procedures.

Required profile

• Vocational/Technical Certificate or Diploma in Metallurgical Processes, Industrial Operations, Production, Mechanical or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience (certificate) or 2 years experience (diploma) in ferro‑silicon, ferro‑alloy, steel, smelting, mining or similar heavy‑industrial environments.
• Experience with furnace tapping, molten metal handling, slag handling, and casting operations.
• Familiarity with Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF) or Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) is preferred.
