English Foundation Program Instructor

About the role

The English Foundation Program Instructor will join the Faculty of the American International University (AIU) in Kuwait City. This role supports the university’s mission by delivering intensive academic English instruction to students transitioning into English‑medium degree programs.

Key responsibilities

• Teach up to 20 contact hours per week, focusing on academic English, quantitative reasoning, and university learning skills.
• Design, develop, and deliver curriculum aligned with clearly articulated Student Learning Outcomes.
• Create and implement assessments, using formative data to inform instructional decisions.
• Contribute to institutional service, including curriculum review, accreditation activities, and quality‑assurance processes.

Required profile

• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, TEFL, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of three years of English language teaching experience.
• Experience preparing students for academic study in English‑medium environments.
• Native or near‑native English proficiency.
• Preferred: experience with university foundation programs, Intensive English Programs (IEPs), or English for Academic Purposes (EAP); familiarity with evidence‑based, student‑centered pedagogy and outcomes‑based curriculum design.
