Well Placement Engineer

About the role

The Well Placement Engineer supports the safe, efficient and reliable delivery of products and services to customers. The role works closely with operations groups, providing technical expertise throughout the sales, product and service delivery process, and assists in real‑time incident response.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with operations groups to support well‑placement expertise and identify continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Promote new technologies and service offerings, supporting risk management and lessons‑learned integration.
• Provide real‑time technical support to operations as required.
• Assist in developing technical job designs for Project Leaders.
• Identify and apply cost‑effective techniques and explore value‑added product opportunities.
• Collaborate with Design/Technical Engineers to optimise technical designs.
• Participate in incident response, recovery and investigation related to well placement.
• Evaluate technical viability of tenders and contribute to technical publications.
• Maintain visibility with customers through professional societies, papers and university engagements.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in well placement and oilfield operations.
• Ability to provide real‑time operational support and incident response.
• Willingness to stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Effective communication skills for consulting with operations and external stakeholders.
