Aerostat Operator II – ISR & Surveillance Support

About the role

The Aerostat Operator II provides Operations and Sustainment support for the Persistent Surveillance Systems‑Tethered (PSS‑T) program in OCONUS locations. The role involves managing aerostat flight operations, intelligence collection, and equipment maintenance in austere environments.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate collection, analysis, processing and dissemination of strategic and tactical intelligence.
• Perform pre‑flight, in‑flight and post‑flight checks, and assist with emplacement and recovery of aerostat equipment.
• Analyze imagery, moving targets and geospatial data, and maintain systematic intelligence records.
• Execute maintenance tasks on electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems supporting the aerostat.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of aerostat operation experience.
• Active Secret US Government clearance and US citizenship.
• Valid driver’s license and passport valid for at least six months.
• Ability to lift 50 lb regularly and perform extensive physical tasks in extreme desert conditions.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance – hydraulic/servo valves, actuators, control systems, test and diagnostic equipment.
• Networking and IT – Cisco administration, CCIE (preferred), fiber‑optic certification, network installation (BICSI/Network+).
• Mechanical maintenance – hydraulic systems, winch/tether handling, generators, HVAC, crane lifts, forklift operation.
• Ability to read electronic schematics and perform O&M of electro‑mechanical equipment.
