Consultant - Geologist

About the role

Anton, a global integrated oil and gas value-added management services company headquartered in Dubai, is hiring a Consultant - Geologist for its On-sync Energy Management Services Company in Kuwait. The role provides expert geological advice on exploration trends, technologies and developments in upstream oil and gas, and leads geological and geoscience activities on prospect evaluation and exploration programs.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on exploration trends, emerging technologies and developments in upstream exploration, and advise on R&D programs for exploration and subsurface evaluation.
• Develop, review and support exploration programs based on geological, geophysical, technical and commercial considerations, and lead prospectivity assessment, prospect maturation and de-risking of drillable locations.
• Evaluate prospective areas and drilling targets, support basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, prospect ranking and exploration portfolio assessment.
• Integrate geological and seismic interpretation to identify prospects, assess geological uncertainty and risk, and evaluate key risks such as trap integrity, reservoir quality, seal effectiveness, hydrocarbon charge, faulting, overpressure and formation instability.
• Recommend optimal drilling locations, exploration strategies and development approaches, and use geological, geomechanical, geocellular and fracture modelling to support subsurface decisions.
• Develop and manage technical programs, including scope, resources, schedules, budgets and capabilities, and advise on technology portfolios.
• Collaborate with E&P companies, technology providers and research institutions, and prepare technical reports, geological maps, prospect evaluations, risk assessments and management presentations.
• Mentor geoscience professionals and lead multidisciplinary teams of geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, reservoir engineers and drilling engineers.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics or a related discipline; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of international upstream oil and gas experience, with substantial experience in E&P exploration and R&D.
• Proven experience in prospect evaluation, exploration program development, basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation and drilling target assessment.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technical projects.
• International experience with major or independent E&P companies and/or research institutions preferred; strong technical publication record is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong integration of geological and seismic interpretation and geological risk assessment.
• Geocellular, geomechanical and fracture modelling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard G&G software and integrated subsurface interpretation workflows.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications and digital workflows in geoscience interpretation preferred.
• Experience with carbonate reservoirs and Middle East petroleum systems is an advantage.
