Digital Fraud Investigator

About the role

The Digital Fraud Investigator leads and executes complex fraud investigations across multiple accounts and channels. You will work closely with legal, compliance, operations and technology teams to protect the organization from financial loss and regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end investigations of multi‑account, multi‑channel, organised, insider‑enabled or collusive fraud scenarios.
• Develop investigation plans, define scope, timelines, required data and stakeholder engagement.
• Gather, preserve and analyse evidence from internal systems (transactions, digital session logs, device/IP data, case notes, call recordings) and external sources.
• Conduct interviews with customers and staff, document statements and corroborate facts.
• Maintain chain‑of‑custody and case file integrity to ensure artefacts are court‑ or regulator‑ready.
• Prepare comprehensive investigation reports detailing chronology, findings, loss exposure, root cause and remediation recommendations.
• Coordinate with Legal/Compliance for regulatory notifications, law‑enforcement referrals and regulator interactions.
• Drive recovery and containment actions with Operations and Channels (account restrictions, beneficiary blocks, device bans, mule account interdiction).
• Contribute expert input to fraud typology development, rule strategy and workflow improvements.
• Mentor junior investigators and help develop training materials, playbooks and investigation standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex fraud investigations in a financial or regulatory environment.
• Strong understanding of evidence handling, chain‑of‑custody and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams including Legal, Compliance, Operations and Technology.
• Excellent analytical and report‑writing skills.
