Medical Science Liaison

About the role

Roots Pharmaceutical is hiring a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to act as the primary scientific resource for healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders and internal stakeholders. The role covers clinical and scientific support for the company's products, relationship building with KOLs and academic institutions, and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical and scientific support for the company's products, including disease state education and product training.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and academic institutions.
• Attend medical conferences, symposia and advisory boards to gather insights and share scientific information.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and launch strategies.
• Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries from HCPs with accurate and balanced scientific information.
• Support clinical trial activities, including site identification, recruitment and investigator engagement.
• Monitor and analyse scientific literature and competitor activities to identify trends and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal guidelines in all interactions.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (e.g. PharmD, PhD, MD or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an MSL or in a related role (clinical research, medical affairs or pharmaceutical industry).
• Experience in a specific therapeutic area (e.g. oncology, cardiology, neurology) is preferred.
• Ability to travel frequently, around 50-70% of the time depending on the territory.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of clinical research, drug development and medical affairs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex science to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and HCPs.
• Self-motivated, with strong organisational and time-management skills.
