SEN Governess

About the role

Special Minds, which provides home-based developmental support and education for children across the UAE, is hiring a full-time, on-site SEN Governess in Kuwait City. The Governess gives individualized educational and developmental support to children with special educational needs in a home-based and community setting, following tailored learning plans.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured lessons and implement behavior and communication strategies
• Support daily routines and track progress against agreed goals
• Collaborate with parents, therapists and educators
• Prepare learning materials and maintain accurate records and reports
• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages independence, confidence and positive behavior

Required profile

• Experience working with children with special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties or developmental delays
• Relevant qualification in Education, Special Education, Psychology or a related field; specialized SEN training or certifications are an advantage
• Previous experience as a governess, tutor or teacher in a home or school setting is highly desirable

• Planning and delivering individualized lessons, adapting curriculum and using structured teaching methods
• Implementing behavior management strategies and supporting emotional regulation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with families and multidisciplinary teams
