Senior IT Officer – Cybersecurity & Infrastructure

About the role

The Kuwait National Space Research Centre (KNSRC) seeks a Senior IT Officer to lead its cybersecurity and IT infrastructure initiatives. The role combines strategic security governance with hands‑on management of networks, servers and cloud services to support the Centre’s research mission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor cybersecurity policies, controls and protocols in line with KFAS standards, Kuwaiti regulations and ISO 27001.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, risk reviews and security audits; coordinate remediation actions.
• Manage identity and access controls, ensuring proper provisioning, review and revocation of user permissions.
• Operate and tune security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS and firewalls; respond to incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Integrate KNSRC IT infrastructure with Kuwait University’s firewall and network, and maintain VPN, WLAN, WAN and LAN environments.
• Configure and maintain routing, switching and access‑layer equipment.
• Oversee physical and virtual server platforms (on‑premise and cloud), applying patches, updates and lifecycle management.
• Administer storage, backup and data‑retention solutions to guarantee data recoverability.
• Lead IT vendor selection, contract monitoring, SLA compliance and RFP preparation.
• Identify opportunities to consolidate or retire systems to reduce costs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a related field (Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education equivalency).
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
