Sous Chef

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional Continental and European cuisine in a high‑end hospitality environment. Based in Kuwait City, you will ensure smooth kitchen operations, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to menu innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and maintain service quality during peak periods.
• Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring all standards are upheld.
• Support menu development, recipe testing, costing, and seasonal updates.
• Monitor food preparation for portion control, waste reduction, and quality consistency.
• Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients, prep work, and finished dishes.
• Enforce HACCP procedures and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with front‑of‑house teams to ensure efficient service flow and guest satisfaction.
• Manage supplier communications, verify deliveries, and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and staff discipline.
• Oversee proper storage, labeling, and FIFO practices.
• Track budget, analyze food costs, and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
• Maintain emergency readiness, including safety drills and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in European/Continental cuisine.
• Background in fine‑dining, high‑end hotels, or cruise ship kitchens.
• Proven ability to lead a kitchen team and maintain high standards.
