Weight, Metabolic & Digestive Health Psychologist

About the role

The Weight, Metabolic & Digestive Health Psychologist will join the Psychiatry department of Taiba Hospital to provide evidence‑based psychological assessments and interventions for patients undergoing bariatric surgery, weight‑management programs, and treatment for metabolic and gastrointestinal conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical, cognitive, psychosocial, and pre‑bariatric surgery evaluations.
• Design and deliver individualized treatment plans targeting emotional eating, stress management, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
• Provide therapy for obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, IBS, IBD, and stress‑related GI symptoms.
• Collaborate with endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, bariatric surgeons, and dietitians to ensure integrated multidisciplinary care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with JCI standards and hospital regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's and Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait.
• Minimum three years post‑Master's experience treating patients with weight, metabolic, or digestive health issues.
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Ability to work calmly in a fast‑paced environment and assume greater clinical responsibility.

Required skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems.
• Hospital database navigation.
