Aircraft Technician – Aviation Workshop Assistant

About the role

The Aviation Engineering Technical Assistant supports the Senior Manager of Aviation Training by ensuring the workshop and hangar run smoothly for student practical activities. This full‑time, onsite position involves logistical, safety and maintenance duties within a university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute directions from the Senior Manager regarding student practical sessions.
• Assist daily workshop/hangar operations, including material preparation, storage and ordering.
• Maintain health and safety standards and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Organise the workshop for the next day’s activities, ensuring tools and equipment are safely stored.
• Manage inventory of tools and equipment, record issuance, and receive returns from students.
• Prepare raw materials for projects, including cutting to rough size.
• Support instructors during classes and assessments.
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on tools and equipment under supervision.
• Design and fabricate teaching aids and equipment as needed.
• Oversee daily cleaning of the workshop and ensure compliance with university regulations.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability to work onsite in a workshop/hangar environment.
• Commitment to follow and enforce health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students.
• Attention to detail for inventory and logbook upkeep.
