Lead Design Engineer – Mechanical (Rotating Equipment)

About the role

KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions group is seeking a Lead Design Engineer – Mechanical (Rotating Equipment) to support a 5‑year PMC contract with Kuwait Oil Company. The role will lead the mechanical equipment engineering team, ensuring design integrity for new and upgraded oil‑field facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all mechanical designs comply with project specifications, client, international and local standards.
• Prepare specifications and evaluate rotating‑equipment packages.
• Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design for compressors, pumps, generators and other packaged equipment.
• Review EPC detailed designs, conduct technical bid evaluations and manage vendor documentation.
• Allocate work to team members, supervise competencies and ensure appropriate supervision.
• Maintain compliance with the Quality Assurance system and occupational health & safety procedures.
• Conduct site investigations and produce technical reports.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 15 years post‑graduation experience, including at least 10 years in mechanical design within the oil & gas sector.
• At least 5 years in a lead design engineering role and 3 years using automation software.
• Hands‑on experience with large gas‑turbine driven compressors, pumps and generator packages.
• Proven experience developing layouts for new facilities and specifying rotating‑equipment packages in a PMC environment.
• Ability to work with broad technical guidelines and minimal supervision.
