Principal Instrumentation Engineer – Lead Design

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Instrumentation Engineer to lead design activities on oil & gas projects in the Middle East. You will ensure the integrity of instrumentation designs while supervising a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instrumentation design within time, budget and quality targets.
• Supervise instrumentation engineers, designers and technical staff throughout project execution.
• Guarantee compliance with applicable codes, standards and hazardous‑area requirements.
• Manage discipline resource planning and coordinate with other project functions.
• Prepare cost, schedule and resource estimates for assigned projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years total experience, including at least 10 years in oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical environments.
• At least 5 years in a Lead Design Engineer or equivalent role.
• Proven experience working in a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and in Middle‑East projects.
• Experience collaborating with contractors or similar delivery models.

Required skills

• 2D design using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• 3D modelling with PDS, PDMS or AutoPlant.
• Advanced engineering design and data management with SmartPlant Instrumentation.
• Knowledge of instrumentation installation in hazardous areas and instrument hook‑ups.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce accurate design documentation.
