Weight, Metabolic & Digestive Health Psychologist

About the role

The role focuses on delivering evidence‑based psychological assessments and interventions for patients with obesity, metabolic syndrome, gastrointestinal disorders and those undergoing bariatric surgery. The psychologist will work within a multidisciplinary team to integrate behavioral care into overall treatment plans.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical, cognitive, psychosocial and pre‑bariatric surgery evaluations for metabolic and digestive health patients.
• Develop individualized psychological treatment plans targeting emotional eating, stress management and sustainable lifestyle changes.
• Provide evidence‑based therapy for obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, IBS, IBD and stress‑related gastrointestinal symptoms.
• Collaborate with endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, bariatric surgeons and dietitians to deliver coordinated multidisciplinary care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with JCI standards and hospital regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's and Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑Master's experience treating patients with weight, metabolic and digestive health issues.
• Prior experience working in a hospital or clinical setting and ability to assume greater clinical responsibility in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMR systems and hospital database navigation.
• Clinical resource optimization.
• Strong competency in cognitive‑behavioral strategies for emotional eating and stress management.
