Applications and Technology Engineer - Industrial Gases, Sustainability and Energy Transition

About the role

Gulf Cryo is looking for an Applications and Technology Engineer in Al Ahmadi to promote and develop industrial gas applications and technologies that support customers' operational performance, sustainability objectives and energy transition plans. The role combines engineering knowledge with strong communication skills to identify customer needs, explain technology benefits, develop technical and commercial proposals and support the adoption of new applications.

Key responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for industrial gases and related technologies in manufacturing, refining, petrochemicals, metals, food processing and water treatment, and visit customer facilities to understand their processes, challenges, energy use and environmental priorities.
• Assess opportunities such as hydrogen, carbon capture and utilization, and combustion optimization, and evaluate energy efficiency, waste reduction, resource conservation and emission reductions.
• Present technical concepts to engineers, plant managers, procurement teams and executives, and run customer presentations, seminars, workshops and demonstrations.
• Analyze customer operating data, prepare gas demand estimates and equipment requirements, and evaluate capital expenditure, operating costs, savings and payback.
• Plan and coordinate application trials, pilots and demonstrations, define success criteria, and support commissioning, troubleshooting and customer training.
• Support sales teams in qualifying technical opportunities, maintain an opportunity pipeline, and build relationships with equipment manufacturers, technology providers, universities and research organizations.
• Incorporate safety considerations into assessments and proposals, ensure specialist review of gas handling and pressure systems, and follow engineering standards and customer site requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, energy or process engineering; a master's in sustainable energy, hydrogen technologies or process engineering is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and industrial processes.
• Relevant experience in industrial gases, engineering applications, technical business development, process technology or energy systems is preferred; earlier-career candidates may be considered.
• Experience presenting to customers and coordinating technical trials is an advantage.
