Assistant Manager - Events

About the role

The Assistant Manager - Events assists the Manager in running meetings and events and in implementing the brand's service strategy and initiatives. The role also helps grow event revenues, resolves issues that arise during events, and keeps the banquet floor running smoothly through daily walk-throughs. It is a full-time position based at the Safat property.

Key responsibilities

• Help manage meetings and special events operations, research competitors' products, pricing and services, and review scheduled events to spot and resolve potential problems.
• Help coordinate groups affecting property operations and oversee cleaning and maintenance of meeting spaces and the surrounding areas.
• Help oversee furniture and equipment maintenance and keep inventory within corporate guidelines.
• Help execute brand service initiatives in event management areas and conduct daily walk-throughs of the banquet floor.
• Build relationships with outside vendors, set prices and service agreements, and help create the annual banquet budget.
• Consult with customers to define their objectives and requirements for meetings, conferences and conventions, and deliver service that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, with 2 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or a related field.
• Or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major, with 1 year of experience in a similar field.
