Ball-Valve Ball Technician

About the role

UNIGULF's Valve Services Division is looking for an experienced Ball-Valve Ball Technician to join its workshop team in East Ahmadi, Kuwait. The technician inspects, grinds, laps, polishes and refurbishes ball valve balls used in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical and other industrial applications, with a focus on dimensional accuracy, surface finish, sealing integrity and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, assess and refurbish ball valve balls of various sizes.
• Grind, lap, polish and machine ball surfaces to the required condition.
• Operate specialized ball valve ball grinding and machining equipment.
• Check balls for wear, corrosion, pitting, scoring, dimensional deviations and other defects.
• Take and record precise measurements before, during and after machining.
• Use micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators and other inspection tools.
• Maintain machines, tooling, fixtures and work areas, and complete inspection and job documentation.
• Follow UNIGULF HSE, quality and workshop procedures.

Required profile

• ITI, diploma or equivalent technical qualification in mechanical, machining, fitting or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in ball valve ball refurbishment, valve repair, precision machining, grinding, lapping or a closely related field.
• Practical experience with ball valves and their components is strongly preferred.
• Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical or industrial valve service is preferred.

Required skills

• Operating grinding, lapping, polishing or machining equipment.
• Knowledge of dimensional tolerances, surface finish and precision measurement.
• Able to read engineering drawings and understand machining requirements.
• Familiarity with valve components, sealing surfaces and common ball surface defects.
