Coffee Sommelier

About the role

The Ned Doha is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Coffee Sommelier to lead its specialty coffee program. You will curate coffee selections, develop brewing standards, and design coffee menus that complement the venue’s food and beverage offerings while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Select and source coffee beans, creating a rotating menu aligned with the venue’s concept.
• Develop and maintain brewing standards for espresso, manual brew methods, and latte art.
• Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages, providing guests with detailed origin and method explanations.
• Train, mentor, and support barista teams on coffee preparation, equipment calibration, and service procedures.
• Monitor inventory, maintain coffee equipment, and ensure hygiene and safety standards are met.
• Collaborate with culinary, bar, and service teams for events, tastings, and coffee‑focused activations.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of coffee varieties, origins, flavor profiles, and brewing methods.
• Hands‑on barista experience in high‑end or specialty coffee environments.
• Strong guest‑facing service skills with the ability to educate and personalize recommendations.
• Experience training and mentoring team members on coffee standards.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices in a busy hospitality setting.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
