Consultant Radiologist

About the role

The Diagnostics & Imaging Center at Dasman Diabetes Institute is looking for a Consultant Radiologist to provide expert diagnostic imaging and clinical leadership. The consultant oversees the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of all unit activities, supervises staff, ensures compliance with clinical, safety, regulatory, accreditation and research standards, and contributes to radiology practice through research, audit, education and training.

Key responsibilities

• Perform, interpret and report on radiological examinations (MRI, CT, ultrasound including Doppler, DXA, general radiography) and image-guided procedures, and review imaging requests for clinical justification.
• Establish and review imaging protocols, approve reports, communicate critical findings promptly and support referring physicians and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Ensure radiation, MRI and contrast safety, pregnancy screening, informed consent, incident reporting and infection prevention and control.
• Supervise and support radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nurses and administrative staff, plan rosters, conduct performance appraisals and take part in recruitment panels.
• Lead quality assurance and improvement, define and report key performance indicators, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards such as Accreditation Canada International.
• Promote and take part in research imaging, including as principal investigator, and ensure GCP compliance and separation of research and clinical imaging.
• Organize and deliver continuing education and training for staff, residents and students.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree and a specialist qualification in Diagnostic Radiology recognized by the Kuwait Ministry of Health.
• Valid license to practice as a Consultant Radiologist in Kuwait, or eligibility to obtain it before starting.
• 15 years of experience, including 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role in a radiology department; experience in radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI and DXA; research imaging experience desirable.
• BLS and ACLS certification, ICH GCP certificate, and radiation protection training.

Required skills

• Expert diagnostic interpretation and reporting across imaging modalities.
• RIS/PACS and electronic health records.
• Knowledge of radiation protection, MRI safety, contrast safety, quality management, clinical audit and accreditation standards.
• Teaching, communication and English proficiency (Arabic is an advantage).

Full-time position based at the Diagnostics & Imaging Center, Dasman Diabetes Institute; on-call and weekend duties may be required, and there is exposure to ionizing radiation and strong magnetic fields.
