Customer Engineer

About the role

The Customer Engineer will install, repair and maintain ATMs and related devices for financial institutions across South Africa. You will act as the primary technical contact, ensuring equipment performance, handling modifications, and providing on‑site support to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair ATM hardware and associated peripherals.
• Produce and maintain equipment performance and activity reports.
• Provide multi‑vendor maintenance and apply diagnostic techniques to resolve issues.
• Maintain day‑to‑day customer relationships, update customers on modifications, and escalate issues as needed.
• Own customer issues from diagnosis to resolution in line with SLA agreements.
• Process stock movements and call‑out details via the mobile app.
• Communicate status updates through electronic call notes throughout the day.
• Travel throughout South Africa to perform installations, repairs, and servicing.
• Participate in standby roster for weekends, public holidays, or shift work when required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• 3–5 years of technical experience in ATM or related hardware maintenance.
• Computer literate and proficient in English.
• Valid South African driving licence (Code B/8).
• Strong communication skills, self‑driven, customer‑focused and a team player.

Required skills

• CompTIA A+ certification (advantageous).
• Electrical engineering knowledge applied to ATM hardware.
• Technical troubleshooting and multi‑vendor maintenance of ATM devices.
