Dean, School of Architecture & Design

About the role

The Dean of the School of Architecture & Design will serve as the chief academic officer, providing strategic vision and operational leadership for the School’s three disciplines: Architecture, Interior Design, and Graphic Design. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will champion excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community engagement while advancing diversity and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversee faculty, academic programs, budgets, and administrative functions.
• Lead faculty recruitment, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with the Industry Advisory Committee, professional organizations, and community partners.
• Support studio‑based learning, student exhibitions, competitions, and professional practice opportunities.
• Represent the School in university leadership activities and manage public communications.
• Lead accreditation, quality assurance, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee curriculum development, scheduling, and resource allocation for Architecture, Interior Design, and Graphic Design programs.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic leadership experience, preferably as a dean or department head.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high‑quality faculty.
• Strong record of scholarship, research, or creative activity in architecture, design, or related fields.
• Experience managing budgets, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with industry and community stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of American higher‑education accreditation standards.
