Dean – School of Engineering & Computing

About the role

The Dean of the School of Engineering & Computing will provide strategic, academic and administrative leadership for the engineering programs at American International University in Kuwait. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is responsible for advancing academic quality, research, industry engagement and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all faculty, academic programs and operational activities within the School.
• Oversee curriculum development, program assessment, scheduling and continuous improvement.
• Manage budgeting, resource allocation and strategic planning for the School.
• Direct faculty recruitment, development, performance management and scholarly activity.
• Maintain and activate the Industry Advisory Committee to ensure alignment with market needs.
• Lead accreditation and quality assurance processes, including ABET compliance.
• Strengthen industry partnerships, internships and experiential learning opportunities.
• Support laboratory infrastructure and development of academic resources.
• Represent the School in university leadership and strategic initiatives.
• Promote student success, retention, progression and employability through data‑informed decisions.

Required profile

• Significant experience in professional and academic leadership positions.
• Strong record of teaching and scholarly activity in engineering or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience with accreditation processes such as ABET.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, resources and strategic planning.
• Experience fostering industry collaborations and advisory committees.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
