Engineering Manager, Core E-commerce Platform

About the role

The company is a high‑growth e‑commerce leader in Kuwait, operating high‑traffic web and mobile platforms. As Engineering Manager you will own one or more critical e‑commerce domains and lead a backend team delivering large‑scale, customer‑facing services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop high‑performing backend teams building Java micro‑services for catalog, pricing, checkout, and integration domains.
• Set and monitor SLOs, drive performance testing, and ensure resilience through patterns such as retries, circuit breakers, and idempotency.
• Raise engineering standards across design, testing, deployment, security, and observability; foster a strong code‑review culture.
• Coach engineers, run performance conversations, build succession plans, and actively participate in hiring.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture, SRE, Data and Security to balance delivery speed with platform quality.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a senior technical leadership role.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale, high‑traffic transactional platforms, preferably in e‑commerce or marketplace domains.
• Strong architectural depth, data‑driven decision making, and ability to simplify complex systems.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic is a plus.
