Geriatric Specialist / Consultant

About the role

The organization is seeking an experienced Geriatric Specialist or Consultant to provide high‑quality inpatient and outpatient surgical care in Kuwait. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, surgical planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for elderly patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations, reviewing referrals from other specialties.
• Analyse medical history, medication allergies, physical condition and examination results to determine surgical necessity and the best procedural approach.
• Inform patients about their medical condition, surgical risks and postoperative expectations.
• Schedule operating rooms, coordinate with support staff and ensure all personnel are prepared for procedures.
• Uphold medical ethics, adhere to General Surgery standards, and maintain professional conduct.
• Lead performance‑improvement initiatives, conduct research on surgical techniques, and support staff development through teaching and orientation programs.
• Participate in regular meetings aimed at enhancing patient care services.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialised training in General Surgery.
• Membership/Fellowship (e.g., Royal College) and/or PhD/MD in a relevant surgical specialty.
• Valid Ministry of Health‑Kuwait licence to practice as a General Surgery Consultant.
• Minimum 12 years of experience, including at least 7 years post‑fellowship or PhD/MD.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and critical‑thinking abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet research tools.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
