Hotel Steward – Guest Service & Kitchen Support

About the role

The Steward ensures the hotel’s dining and kitchen areas are clean, well‑stocked, and ready for service. Working closely with the kitchen team and Guest Service Assistants, the role supports a high‑standard guest experience through meticulous cleaning, waste management, and equipment preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of dishes, kitchen equipment, floors, cupboards, and tile areas.
• Maintain stock of cleaning supplies, dish towels, and dishware; refill cupboards as needed.
• Empty waste bins, separate recyclable material, and follow environmental standards.
• Weekly deep cleaning of delivery areas, storage rooms, hotel surroundings, and waste rooms.
• Cover staff duties, organise schedules with Guest Service Assistants, and orient new trainees.
• Hover in lobby, restaurant, and banqueting rooms to support service during operations.
• Enforce company grooming standards, time‑and‑attendance policies, and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Identify and report hazardous situations; ensure compliance with fire, first‑aid, and emergency protocols.

Required profile

• Ability to liaise effectively with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams.
• Willingness to participate in hotel activities, training sessions, and CSR events.
• Commitment to maintaining exemplary behaviour, appearance, and attitude in line with IHG brand standards.
• Understanding of waste‑separation, recycling, and cost‑saving measures.
