Hydrocarbon Lawyer Specialist

About the role

The Hydrocarbon Lawyer Specialist will be based in Kuwait and will support Anton’s Energy Management Services division. The role focuses on providing legal and regulatory expertise for business partnerships, joint ventures and commercial agreements within the oil and gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory support for partnerships, joint ventures and commercial agreements in the energy sector.
• Evaluate partnership structures and business models to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, technical and commercial requirements.
• Draft, review and negotiate partnership agreements, contractual terms, conditions and related documentation.
• Support tendering and commercial processes by offering legal guidance and ensuring contractual compliance.
• Monitor implementation and execution of contractual terms throughout the partnership lifecycle.
• Advise on contract amendments, renewals, terminations and other contractual matters.
• Update contractual frameworks to reflect evolving legal, regulatory and business requirements.
• Provide legal advice on regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations affecting operations.
• Conduct legal and reputational due diligence on potential partners and third parties.
• Develop and maintain legal and regulatory reference materials to support business activities.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on contractual, legal and regulatory issues.
• Monitor compliance with contractual obligations, corporate policies and applicable regulations.
• Identify and mitigate legal, commercial and regulatory risks associated with partnerships.
• Provide ongoing legal advisory support to management and project teams.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution.
• Additional qualifications or certifications in Energy Law, Contract Management or Commercial Law are preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of professional legal experience, with significant exposure to the oil & gas or energy industry.
• Proven experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating and managing complex oil & gas contracts and commercial agreements.
• Strong experience with joint ventures, strategic partnerships, production sharing agreements or similar arrangements.
