About the role
The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist for Inpatient Rehabilitation ensures that the medical record accurately reflects patient complexity and resource use. Reporting to the Rehab Quality/PPS Manager, the role also acts as the RN representative on weekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
Key responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation and conduct patient interviews to align records with IRF-PAI requirements.
- Lead discussions with physicians, therapists, and case managers to resolve documentation inconsistencies and support compliance and reimbursement.
Required profile
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 3 years of experience in an Inpatient Rehab Facility or acute care setting.
- Strong analytical ability and confidence to present and discuss documentation issues with multidisciplinary teams.
Required skills
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding.
- Knowledge of Section GG functional scoring.
