About the role

The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist for Inpatient Rehabilitation ensures that medical records accurately reflect patient complexity and resources, bridging clinical care, compliance, and reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

Maintain accurate documentation of patient complexity and resource use in the medical record.
Serve as the RN representative at weekly Interdisciplinary Team conferences, conducting clinical interviews and record reviews.
Align patient status with the IRF-PAI by reviewing and correcting documentation.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to resolve documentation inconsistencies.

Required profile

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an Inpatient Rehab Facility or Acute Care setting.
Strong communication skills to lead discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
High attention to detail and ability to spot clinical inconsistencies.

Required skills

Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding.
Knowledge of Section GG functional scoring.
