About the role
The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist for Inpatient Rehabilitation ensures that medical records accurately reflect patient complexity and resources, bridging clinical care, compliance, and reimbursement.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient complexity and resource use in the medical record.
- Serve as the RN representative at weekly Interdisciplinary Team conferences, conducting clinical interviews and record reviews.
- Align patient status with the IRF-PAI by reviewing and correcting documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to resolve documentation inconsistencies.
Required profile
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an Inpatient Rehab Facility or Acute Care setting.
- Strong communication skills to lead discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to spot clinical inconsistencies.
Required skills
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding.
- Knowledge of Section GG functional scoring.
