Instructor - English

About the role

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a full‑time Instructor to teach undergraduate writing courses, support learners through the university’s Writing Center, and engage in departmental service and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality instruction in assigned undergraduate writing courses.
• Support student learning by participating in the Writing Center.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain course materials and documentation in line with departmental and university policies.
• Engage in professional development to stay current with pedagogical best practices.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
• Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of an Instructor.

Required profile

• Master's degree in English, English Literature, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience teaching undergraduate English and/or writing courses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to motivate, engage, and support students in a diverse, multicultural environment.
• Experience working in a Writing Center or similar academic support setting.
• Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and continuous improvement processes.
