LDAR Lead Technician

About the role

The Lead Technician (LDAR) will conduct leak detection surveys using advanced infrared cameras and toxic vapor analyzers, manage LDAR data, and support repair activities for light hydrocarbon services in Kuwait.

Key responsibilities

• Familiarize with databases and P&IDs, identify and report improper streams/services.
• Perform leak detection surveys on gas service lines and equipment using IR cameras and TVA.
• Calculate site-based leak rates according to USEPA M21 standards.
• Issue repair work orders, classify leaks, and assist in repairs with repeated measurements.
• Monitor flare relief valves using FLIR T640 thermal camera and UT devices.
• Maintain electronic daily activity reports and compile monthly/15‑day reports.
• Respond to 24/7 emergency callouts and ensure compliance with legal and BV QHSSE policies.

Required profile

• High School Certificate/Diploma.
• Minimum 5 years experience in similar LDAR projects.
• At least 2 years experience operating IR cameras.
• Valid Kuwait or GCC driving license.
• Ability to pass Permit to Work (PTW) tests.

Required skills

• Advanced IR camera operation.
• Toxic Vapor Analyzer (TVA) usage.
• FLIR T640 thermal imaging.
• UT devices (VPAC II) for valve monitoring.
• LDAR database management and reporting software.
• Knowledge of USEPA M21 – EPA‑453/R‑95‑017 leak rate calculations.
