Lead Contracts Engineer

About the role

The Lead Contracts Engineer oversees the full contract lifecycle for large oil and gas facility projects, from bid preparation through post‑award administration. This senior position ensures contracts are prepared, negotiated, and managed in line with client procedures and commercial best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bid invitations, handle bidder queries, develop evaluation programmes, evaluate bids and negotiate terms.
• Draft recommendation for award, prepare contract documents and manage award formalities.
• Conduct kick‑off meetings, coordinate contract submittals, process variation orders, claims and close‑out activities.
• Lead the drafting of Invitation to Tender packages for major O&G projects and review client contract conditions.
• Collaborate with legal, risk, tax and accounting teams to resolve contractual issues before management approval.
• Monitor contract compliance, maintain change‑order documentation, and keep the Projects Contracts Manager informed of scope, financial and risk aspects.
• Prepare client correspondence, ensure acceptance documents are signed, and provide business and financial information as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of post‑graduation experience, including at least 5 years on oil and gas projects.
• At least 5 years in a lead or senior contract role.
• Extensive knowledge of contractual terms, conditions and commercial contract law.
