Mathematics Foundation Program Instructor

About the role

American International University (AIU) in Kuwait is hiring a full-time Mathematics Foundation Program Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position sits within a coordinated, outcomes-driven Foundation Program that prepares students for entry into undergraduate study. The successful candidate will teach developmental mathematics with strong, scholarly-informed instruction, monitor student learning closely and help students meet the progression standards required to enter degree programs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in Foundation Program mathematics courses such as pre-algebra, algebra and quantitative reasoning, balancing conceptual understanding with procedural fluency
• Plan structured lessons aligned with course outcomes and use active learning strategies such as questioning, concept checks and guided practice
• Adapt instruction to students with varied levels of mathematical preparation
• Design formative assessments, contribute to common program-level assessments and support end-of-term assessments; evaluate student performance and record achievement accurately
• Follow common syllabi, pacing and assessment frameworks across sections, and intervene early with students at risk of non-progression
• Hold office hours, provide academic support and deliver instruction in person and remotely using Canvas as the LMS and Microsoft Teams for communication
• Work with course coordinators, refine curriculum materials and use student data to inform teaching decisions

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field
• Proven experience teaching mathematics at secondary or post-secondary level
• Ability to teach students with varied preparation, including those needing foundational support
• Familiarity with evidence-based or scholarly-informed teaching approaches
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and ability to work in a diverse, international academic environment
• Preferred: at least two years of higher education teaching experience, experience in foundation or developmental mathematics, and familiarity with outcome-based instruction and common assessment design
