Pediatric Optometrist

About the role

Taiba Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Optometrist to join its Ophthalmology department. You will provide age‑appropriate eye examinations and ensure high‑quality vision care for children, building trust with families and supporting community eye‑health initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine pediatric eye exams, including visual acuity, stereopsis, visual field, binocular vision, and hand‑eye coordination.
• Screen for and manage amblyopia, strabismus, refractive errors, and congenital eye conditions.
• Take comprehensive medical and developmental histories and evaluate symptoms such as discharge, redness, tearing, and light sensitivity.
• Prescribe corrective lenses, glasses, and vision therapy; refer complex or surgical cases to a board‑certified pediatric ophthalmologist.
• Educate children and their parents/guardians on eye care, lens compliance, and eye safety.
• Participate in school health screenings, early‑intervention programs, and pediatric eye‑health awareness campaigns.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Optometry approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• 3–5 years of optometry experience, preferably with pediatric exposure.
• Advanced training in Pediatric Optometry.
• Strong clinical judgement and a calm, empathetic approach with anxious young patients and their families.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
