Principal Civil Engineer – Lead Design (Civil/Structural)

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead civil and structural design delivery for oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical projects in the Middle East. You will ensure safe, high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes while guiding a multidisciplinary team through the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise civil and structural engineers and draftsmen.
• Maintain design integrity within scope, standards and client expectations.
• Identify, implement and manage civil/structural design software for the team.
• Control design changes, budgets and schedules, acting as Design Master Controller.
• Provide technical supervision and ensure compliance with QA and OH&S requirements.
• Monitor cost and KPI performance for design activities.
• Balance design detail with constructability and implementation cost.
• Allocate tasks according to competency and supervise deliverables.
• Conduct site investigations and prepare detailed reports.

Required profile

• Extensive civil/structural engineering experience on oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical projects.
• Proven track record working in the Middle East project environment.
• Strong background in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) roles, managing client expectations and multi‑contractor interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and deliver complex projects.
• Deep understanding of design, drafting and engineering processes in both 2D and 3D environments.
• Experience managing design budgets, schedules and performance metrics.
