Professor of Art History & Architecture (Full/Associate/Assistant)

About the role

The School of Architecture and Design at American International University seeks a full‑time faculty member to teach Art History and Architectural History. The appointment can be at the rank of Full Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful scholar will join a multicultural, design‑oriented academic community and contribute to undergraduate education, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses covering global art history, modern and contemporary art, architectural history, design history, visual culture and critical theory.
• Teach survey and specialized courses that support Interior Design, Graphic Design and Architecture programmes.
• Integrate interdisciplinary perspectives linking art, architecture and design practice.
• Develop and regularly update curricula to reflect scholarly advances and accreditation standards.
• Mentor students in research, writing, analytical methods and presentations.
• Maintain an active research agenda, publish in peer‑reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Participate in exhibitions, symposia and scholarly collaborations that raise the school’s academic profile.
• Serve on departmental, school and university committees, support accreditation activities and engage in student recruitment and community outreach.

Required profile

• PhD in Art History, Architectural History or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of university‑level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong record of scholarly research.
• Ability to contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion within an academic setting.
