Registered Mail Clerk

About the role

The Registered Mail Clerk supports secure and accountable registered mail operations at the Military Post Office on Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. This position ensures strict chain‑of‑custody controls while providing professional customer service in a high‑tempo overseas environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, sort, secure, dispatch and deliver registered and other accountable mail items.
• Maintain continuous chain of custody from receipt through final delivery, transfer or return.
• Verify, record, reconcile and retain required documentation, logs, receipts and manifests.
• Use USPS Point of Service/Retail Systems (POS/RSS) to process transactions and generate receipts.
• Conduct daily and end‑of‑shift inventories and report any discrepancies or security incidents.
• Safeguard registered mail, keys, stamps, postal funds and sensitive records according to security procedures.
• Provide customer service, verify identities and obtain required signatures for mail release.
• Support general MPO operations such as mail sorting, parcel handling and counter service.

Required profile

• Active Secret security clearance.
• Minimum two years experience handling and processing registered mail.
• Minimum two years experience using USPS POS/RSS.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity and sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, military personnel and government representatives.
